Shawnee and Lawrence School Lice Policies
Schools in Shawnee and Lawrence do not enforce strict “no nit” policies. Children will not be sent home if nits are found in the hair. It is expected that they will go home and be treated that night.
Lake Washington and Issaquah Schools Lice Policy
The Lake Washington School District (Sammamish) states that children may remain in school with lice but should go home at the end of the day to be treated. Issaquah schools say that children may stay in school and then go home to be treated.
Downers Grove and Wheaton School Lice Policy
Schools in Downers Grove and Wheaton districts allow students to remain in school until the end of the day when lice lice are found.

Cary and Chapel Hill School Lice Policies
Schools in Wake County, including Cary and Chapel Hill do not hold to strict ��no nit” policies for head lice. Children with nits may remain in school. At the end of the school day, the child should be sent home for lice treatment.
Racine Area Schools Lice Policy
Schools in Racine do not restrict school attendance for the presence of lice eggs or nits. They follow the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association of School Nurses
School Lice Policy Oak Park and Berwyn
Both Oak Park and Berwyn schools no longer have “no nit” policies in place. Oak Park’s exception to this is that if a child has nits (lice eggs) and the case continues to get worse, the child may be sent home.

Schools in these districts have dropped their “no nit” school lice policies. Children will not be automatically sent home if nits are found. This is based on research from and recommendations by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Association of School Nurses, the American School Health Association, and the Harvard School of Public Health.
