Lexington, Massachusetts Lice Removal FAQs
Is your treatment safe for the elderly and infirm living in nursing or group homes?
Yes! It is all natural so it is safe and effective for everyone. If you have a loved one living in a nursing home in Lexington, MAÂ a compassionate and experienced LiceDoctors technician can treat that person by making a house call to the nursing home.
How do I check myself for head lice?
If you are a single individual living alone, or a mom (we see you!) needing an effective way to check yourself for head lice, apply some form of lubricant to your hair – like olive or coconut oil or your regular conditioner for example. With a good quality nit comb – Terminator brand nit comb is the best we’ve found ( https://www.licedoctors.com/best-lice-treatment-products/lice-comb) – comb your hair in small sections, focusing behind the ears and at the nape of the neck. Wipe the comb off on a white paper towel or wet wipe. You’ll be looking for signs of lice like a bug or a few nits. Check out our blog to see exactly what you should look for. https://www.licedoctors.com/blog/how-do-you-tell-the-difference-between-lice-and-nits.html. If you find lice or nets, we can dispatch a technician to your Lexington, MA home to treat you. It is very difficult to treat yourself.
Are lice contagious?
A lice infestation, where live bugs are present, would be considered contagious. Bugs are transmitted most often via head to head contact with an infested individual. If nits only are present, the case of lice is not contagious. Nits are glued to the individual hair strands and they do not transfer. The caveat with this is about a week after the nits hatch, the baby bugs that emerged would be contagious. If one of your Lexington friends has head lice, we should consider it contagious.
