Melbourne and Palm Bay are both served by Brevard Public Schools, which allows students with nits to attend school, but not students with live lice.

If lice were a politician, it would have no party, align itself with no group. It would court all voters in a nondiscriminatory fashion. Because lice see all heads as being equal!

Schools in Lincoln allow students to attend school if they have nits, and students with live lice may remain until the end of the school day. This is consistent with practices recommended by the CDC and the National Association of School Nurses.

Schools in Moore have dropped their “no nit” policies, but only until the end of day one. If a child does not have live bugs, he or she can remain in school until the end of the day. Day 2, all nits (lice eggs) must be gone for readmission to school.

School head lice policies can vary from town to town and county to county. Woodmere and Valley Stream do not enforce “no nit” policies.

Schools in Edmond do not hold to a strict “no nit” policy, however they are fairly strict on the requirements for students to attend school after a case of head lice is discovered.

Schools in Lorain hold to a strict “no nit” policy, meaning that children are not allowed to return to the classroom until they are confirmed to have no more nits or eggs. Schools in Elyria only restrict attendance when an active infestation of live lice is present. As always, check with your child’s school for their particular recommendations.

Schools in Summerville and Goose Creek do not hold to strict “no nit” policies. Students are allowed to return to school once effective treatment has been administered.
